Deacon Eddie Gilmore Jr. peacefully transitioned June 7, 2023 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023 at Salem Baptist Church, 902 South Main St. Darlington, SC 29532. Interment will follow at Faith Memorial Gardens, Rogers Rd., Darlington, SC 29532.
Public viewing will be 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023 at the funeral home.
The family will receive visitation at the funeral home 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023.
The family will not be receiving visitation at the residence.

Deacon Eddie Gilmore Jr.

Deacon Eddie Gilmore, Jr. entered the world on April 19, 1941,in Darlington, SC to the late Eddie and Edna Gilmore, Sr. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, SC.
He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County and graduated from Mayo High School, Class of 1959.
During his career he was afforded opportunities for employment with: Perfection American, Darlington Police Department Auxiliary, and Sonoco, just to name a few.
He loved and served the Lord at Salem Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years. He served as a Trustee, member of the Senior Choir, and Chairman of Deacons’ Board.
He was united in holy matrimony to Daisy Drakewood Gilmore for sixty-two years. To this union four children were born, Reginald, Dorothea, Sharon, and Alvin. They were blessed with one embraced son, Timothy.
Loved ones awaiting his arrival in heaven include his parents, Eddie and Edna Gilmore and one brother, Edward “Jimmy” Broome.
Eddie leaves a legacy of everlasting devotion and love to his loving and devoted wife, Daisy D. Gilmore; his children, Reginald Gilmore of Florence, SC, Dorothea Guyton and Sharon (Donald) Jackson, both of Darlington, SC, Alvin (Christine) Gilmore of Garner, NC, and Timothy Cabbagestalk of Baton Rouge, LA. Additionally, loving memories will be forever cherished by his siblings; three brothers, Bernard (Gloria) Gilmore, Stephen Gilmore, and Roderick Gilmore, all of Darlington, SC; three sisters, Janie Trotter of Darlington, SC, Daisy Lowery of Thomasville, NC, and Deborah Gilmore of Darlington, SC; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
