Obituary
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.  (2 Timothy 4: 7-8)

Bobby Cherry, “CherryBoy”, has made it to the finish line of life, exiting the earth from the comfort of his home on February 5, 2024.  Bobby Cherry was the 10th of ten children born to the late Frank Cherry, Sr., and the late Dora Jackson Capers Cherry on September 1, 1948.  Bobby was the baby boy of both his parents, however; he was his mother’s last child, ending the generation.
Bobby’s mother left firm instructions for her daughters to take care of her baby because she knew that she would not be with them long.  Being a month old, Bobby would lose his mother but inherit the motherly love of his sisters and father.

Bobby attended Palmetto Schools in the Mechanicsville community. Years later, he attended Pine Middle School.
He was a terrific baseball player for the Sally Hill Giants, playing positions of pitcher and shortstop. Bobby was also a sharp dresser as his sisters taught him how to be the debonair gentleman he was. Over the years, Bobby met and married the beautiful Mamie Loretta Mouzon on May 1, 1969.  To this union three children were born.

In 2017, his health began to decline but his wife kept the faith and encouraged him to call upon the name of Jesus. For seven years, while declining in health, Bobby developed his relationship with God and knew that Jesus Christ was and is his healer.

Those surviving to cherish memories are his loving wife, M. Loretta Cherry, daughter, Barbara Lorraine, two sons: Cardell (Barbara) Cherry and Michael Cherry.  Bobby helped to raise a grandson, Jordan D’Angelo and built a bond that isn’t easily broken. He loved every grandchild and great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Brandon (Ingrid), Cardell, Jr., Quentin, Signet, Terrance, Jordan, Taylor, DeeDee (Joseph) and Makayla. His Great grandchildren; Jek’hi, Azaria, Bryson, Zalynn, Delilah, ZaHailey, Scarlett, Jordan, Ava, Cyaire, Jenesis and Zaxton; a brother Frank (Delphine) Harrison, two Special nieces, Betty Cherry Goodson and Linda Cherry and a brother-in-law who was like a son, David Bell. He also leaves in-laws Jeanette Bell, Barbara (Leroy) Burgess, Roosevelt Bell, Robert Bell and Elder Danny Holmes, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memories.
Those who preceded him in glory, along with his parents, are his sisters Eloise McElveen, Ethel Durant, Margaret Poole, Rachel Russell, Bernetha Ervin, Mildred Workman and Doretha Foster and his brothers Willie Capers, Sr. and Frank Cherry, Jr.
