“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
Mr. Cecil Bacote
Mr. Cecil Bacote was born October 16, 1945 to the late Heyward and Betty Holloman Bacote of the Oats Community.
Cecil departed this life on August 22, 2023 bound for his new heavenly home to rejoice forever more according to God’s plan.
Cecil was educated in the Darlington County Public Schools graduating from Spaulding High School class of 1963. He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Elizabeth Peterson Bacote and this union lasted for 54 years. To this union one son was born, Demetri Bacote.
After graduating from high school Cecil moved to Patterson, N.J. where he worked in the manufacturing field. Upon moving back to S. C. he worked for James Rivers for many years in Darlington, S. C. In 1988 he went into the trucking field as a delivery driver for Metrolina Greenhouse in Huntersville, N.C.
Cecil accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Savannah Grove AME Church Lamar, S.C. until his health started to decline.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters and brother-in-laws Hazel (Levern) Pooler and Arnese (Anthony) Thompson, a special cousin but more like a sister, Stella Cooper.
He will be missed by all and he will be remembered always. Those who shared the joys of Cecil life and survived to cherish his memory are his devoted son, Demetri Bacote of Atlanta, GA.: two sisters, Betty Bradley of Baltimore, Maryland and Ramona (Henry) McKenzie; a special nephew but more like a brother Melvin Bacote; all of Darlington, SC; a close friend Mr. James Peters, and a beloved host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
“For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:7-8
Please keep the Bacote family in your thoughts and prayers.
