Mr. John C. Jackson Sr. of Darlington peacefully transitioned August 12, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. 

The family is receiving friends at 511 Jessamine St., Darlington, S.C.

Celebration of Life for Mr. Jackson will be 11:00AM Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 552 E. Billy Farrow Hwy, Darlington, SC 29532 interment will follow in the church cemetery, Auburn Road, Darlington, SC 29532

Public viewing will be 12:00 noon - 6:00PM Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the funeral home. 

Life Reflections

Mr. John Carl "Bay" Jackson, St., the son of the late Horace Sr. and Geraldine Jackson, was born October 17, 1943 in Darlington, SC. He departed this life on Friday, August 12, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Jackson received his education from the Darlington County Public School System. He was employed for many years at Tucker's Used Cars where he was an Auto Paint Technician before his retirement.

Bay, as he was affectionately called, was a loving family man and friend who never met a stranger. He was known for his love of stylish hats which he wore with pride.

John was united in holy matrimony to Mary A. Brown in 1964. To this union, three children were born.

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary A. Jackson; his daughter Belva (Vernon) Sawyer of Florence, SC; two sons, Michael (Bridget) Jackson of Hartsville, SC and John (Vernessa) Jackson of Darlington, SC; four grandchildren, Ashley Jackson, Phillip Sawyer, Christopher Sawyer and Antoine Mack; a sister in law, Mamie (Marion Bruce Jr); brother in law, Sammie Lee Brown; a special aunt, Lurline Hodges and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Horace Sr. and Geraldine Jackson, four brothers, Horace Jackson Jr.; Hazel Jackson, Marcel Jackson and Roosevelt Jackson.
