A Profile Of Life
In Loving Memory Of
Mrs. Lurline Bruce Hodges
Mrs. Lurline Bruce Hodges, daughter of the late Lonnie and Estelle Jenkins Bruce, was born October 4, 1927, in Darlington County. She received her eternal wings to glory early Monday morning, July 31, 2023, at McLeod Hospice.
Mrs. Hodges received her education in the Darlington County Public School System, graduating from Mayo High School.
After graduating from High School, she moved to New York where she met and married the late Johnny Hodges on April 30, 1956. Here she began a successful career with Kodak and retired after many years of productive service.
While in New York, she attended the St. Luke Baptist Church. In recent years Mrs. Hodges relocated to her hometown and rejoined Cherry Grove Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her health declined.
Aunt Lurl, as she was affectionately called by many, loved meeting people. She was never a stranger and always greeted everyone with a smile. She loved cooking, but her favorite hobby was shopping, and she wore those clothes with pride!
Those left to cherish her precious memories are: her daughter, Delores (James) Williams; a grandson, Anthony Williams; a special granddaughter, Debra Williams; great-grandchildren, Jaelynn, Tyson (Ammisa) and Shaquille; great-great grandchildren, Morgan, Amyah, and Tyson Anthony; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, six brothers, and many other relatives.
Please keep the Hodges & Bruce families in your thoughts and prayers.
