Ms. Dorothy Mae McMillian

Ms. Dorothy Mae McMillian peacefully transitioned June 18, 2024 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.

The family will receive friends at 939 High Hill Rd., Darlington, SC 29532.  

Celebration of life for Ms. McMillian will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1372 Pocket Rd., Darlington, SC 29532. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Public veiwing will be 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the funeral home. The family will receive freinds at the funeral home for visitation during the hours of 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

A Profile Of Life

Dorothy Mae McMillian affectionately known as “Dotmae” was born December 23, 1957 to the late Johnny McNeil and Mary McMillian. She exchanged time for eternity on June 18, 2024 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.

Dorothy attended the public schools of Darlington County School District. She was employed as a Domestic Engineer before her health started to declined. 

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, John McMillian and Joe Louis McMillian; sisters, Florine McMillian and Larraine Kinney; one granddaughter Paris Samuel, and one son-in-law Johnny David James.

Those left to cherish Dorothy precious and fond memories are: her children, Dorothy James, Shonda Phillips, Cornelius (Tiffany) McMillian, Cierra McMillian (Tril), and Alicia (Travis) Smith, all of Darlington, South Carolina; her brothers, David McMillian of Centerville, South Carolina, Jack (Lily) McMillian and George (Sylvia) McMillian both of Portsmouth, Virginia; sisters, Hattie Washingon of Bennetsville, South Carolina, and Sylvia King of Philadelphia, Penslyvania; thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren; special nephew, William McMillian; special friend, Shelia Johnson; a host of other family and friends.
