Ms. Ethel "Lorraine" Smith of Darlington peacefully transitioned Tuesday April 26, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Pentecostal United Churches of Christ Apostolic, 4430 Pamplico Highway, Florence, SC 29505.
Public viewing will be 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the funeral home.
Family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Ethel L. Jones, affectionately known as “Lorraine”, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 22, 1951, daughter of the late Wilbur B. Jones, Sr. and Lillie Jane Goodson Jones. She quietly entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at McLeod Hospital after a short illness.
Lorraine received her formal education in Baltimore, MD public schools, graduating from Dunbar High School class of 1970. She furthered her education at Baltimore City Community College. In addition, she obtained her CNA license.
As a young adult, she was a manager at Hardee’s restaurant and various hotels. Later in life, she became employed at ADP Tax Credit Services, where she retired.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and later attended Pentecostal United Church of Christ Apostolic.
Lorraine was well-known and loved by many. She enjoyed crocheting, talking to family/friends, cooking, shopping, collecting elephants and butterfly figurines.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur B. Jones, Sr. and Lillie Jane Goodson Jones and her sister Irene C. Jones.
Survivors left to cherish her loving memory are: her son, Airrion L. (Tene) Ballentine of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Wilbur “Sam” Jones, Jr. and Donald Jones, both of Darlington, SC; one sister, Mrs. Helen Kennedy of Darlington, SC; one sister-in-law, Vicki Jones of Darlington, SC; three grand-children, Everick Cook of Atlanta, GA, Airrion D. Ballentine of Charlotte, NC, and Zoe N. Ballentine of Florence, SC; an embraced daughter, Retta Balletine; a caring best friend, Carla ( Harry) Graham, and a host of aunts, uncles , nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
