Reflections Of Life
Milinda Scott, daughter of the late Robert Sam and Betty Jean Dargan, departed this earthly life at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, SC on Tuesday morning, August 13th, 2024.
Milinda, who was called Linda by those who knew and loved her, attended the Public Schools of Darlington County and graduated from Mayo High School in 1990. She later attended Limestone College where she majored in Business Administration. Linda lived in Florence, SC where she worked a variety of jobs including (BlueCross and Blue Shield, and Chase Mortgage). Linda was always a dedicated and hard-working professional who performed her assignments with a high level of efficiency and integrity. But that is the Linda we know and love. When given an assignment, she would always do her best because she was serious about the duties of her job.
Linda relocated to Charleston, SC, and started a new career working for Amer-Health Caritas (b-y Select Health). She was a care connector for Foster Children. This was not just a job for her, this became a Passion. Linda was not a birth mother, but she loved children and always found a way to connect with them. She had a remarkably close relationship with her nieces and nephews, and they will never forget how she always made their Christmases so special by giving the biggest and most expensive gifts. No matter what they received at home they always wanted to rush to their grandparents’ house to get the gift from “Aunt Linda.” As they grew older, she continued to attend their special events. After moving to Charleston, she always looked forward to her traditional Halloween “trick or treat” outing with her youngest nephew, Javon. They would both dress in costumes and with the children of her friends. She was available for prom hairdos, attended school functions, and any other ways to show support. The passion she had for children made this the perfect job for Linda. She was a fierce advocate for the children in Foster Care and did not hesitate to go the extra mile for their needs.
Linda had an enthusiastic sense of humor and if you knew her you were aware of her infectious laugh. She would often laugh until she fell to the floor and if you were near her, you would laugh too.
She loved spending time with friends and family. She always looked forward to family gatherings and it was always understood that “Linda will bring the sodas and paper products.” Linda loved spending time with her friends, especially her friends in the motorcycle and social clubs. She enjoyed volunteering for community projects through these groups as well as participating in community projects through her job.
Linda was a woman of many talents. She would give her time and her talents to help others and always had fun in the process. She had a way of making time spent with her fun and memorable.
Our baby sister leaves to cherish her precious memories, her mother Betty Jean Dargan of Darlington, SC; her sisters, Janice (Emanuel) Willis of Sumter, SC; Beverly Scott of Columbia, SC; Angela Scott and Lenora Scott both of Darlington, SC; Lori (James) McCall of Charleston, SC; her brothers, Timothy Scott, Willie Scott, Daniel Scott, Lorenzo Scott, and Ralfenel (Adrian) Scott, Robert (Rosa) Dargan, Jr., Patrick Dargan, and Lorenzo Dargan all of Darlington, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Milinda was preceded in death by her father Robert Sam Dargan and brother Calvin Dargan.
We will always remember that infectious laugh and her loyal dedication to her family and friends. Last, but certainly not least, Linda was a beautiful woman. Her beauty was as natural as her personality. There are no coincidences in life, so it is no coincidence that her name is Milinda. Her name means Sweet and Honey, pretty, black, and beautiful. This describes the Linda we know and love!
Milinda, we will miss your presence, but we thank God for the times we shared. Your spirit will remain with us always.
