Life’s Reflections

“Peacefully sleeping, resting at last, the world’s weary troubles and trials are past”

Ms. Sharon Yvette Bruce was born June 18, 1962 the daughter of Janie Thomas Bruce Foster and the Late Perry Bruce.  She departed this earthly life on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at McLeod Hospital after an illness.

She received her formal education in Darlington County Schools, graduating in the class of 1981 from St. John’s High School.  Sharon furthered her education at Demark Technical College in Demark, SC, where she received an Associate Degree in Childhood Development in 1983.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus as her Savior, joined, and was baptized at Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Later, she transferred membership to New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health declined. She recently reinstated her membership with Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Sharon was employed with the Atlanta Public Schools as a bus driver.  Upon returning to Darlington, SC she was gainfully employed with M.G. Bruno as a bus driver as well.

It was evident, that caring for children was her passion.  She went beyond the call of duty by providing childcare service to any parent who was in dire need, sometimes without compensation.  She never met a child that was not close to her heart.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Kimberly Washington and Paula Jean Bruce, maternal grandparents Benjamin and Florie Rose Thomas, paternal grandparents Isaiah and Cleo Bruce Coe, and a niece Antonique Sargent.

Those left to cherish her memories:  two sons Shawn Bruce of Atlanta, GA and Ahmad Rasheed Bruce of Darlington, SC;  three grandsons Keishawn Burney, Ki’sante Burney and Montrell Jackson;  sister Wanda Bruce;  brother Chris (Diane) Bruce of Orangeburg, SC;  step father Edward Foster of Mebane, NC;  a special niece Zo’eshia Sargent; two special god-granddaughters Zor’anna Graham and Logan Bruce.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
